GLPC Open Show – 28th May 2022

German Longhaired Pointer Club Open Show

DATE FOR YOUR DIARY: – Saturday 28th May 2022

The German Longhaired Pointer Club are holding their single breed Open Show in partnership with Bath Canine Society on Saturday 28 th May 2022. Please enter and come along to support your Club and to meet other GLPs and their owners. There are lovely rosettes and many trophies to be won!
There are separate classes for dogs and bitches to suit all levels and previous showing experience and you can enter more than one class. If you have not shown your GLP before, why not enter at least the Beginners Class.

VETERAN for dogs of not less than seven years of age on the first day of the Show.

SPECIAL YEARLING for dogs aged 6 to 24 months

BEGINNERS for owner, handler or exhibit not having won a first prize at a Championship or Open Show

POST GRADUATE for dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate/CACIB/CAC/Green Star or five or more First Prizes at Championship Shows in Post Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit and Open classes, whether restricted or not where Challenge Certificates were
offered for the breed.

LIMIT for dogs which have not become show Champions under The Kennel Club Regulations or under the rules of any governing body recognised by The Kennel Club, or won 3 or more CC/CACIB/CAC/Green Stars or won 7 or more First Prizes in all at Championship Shows in Limit or Open Classes confined to the Breed, whether restricted or not at Shows where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed.

OPEN for all dogs of the breeds for which the class is provided and eligible for entry at the Show.

FIELD TRIAL for dogs which have won prizes, Diplomas of Merit or Certificates of Merit in actual competition at a Field Trial held under Kennel Club or Irish Kennel Club Field Trial Regulations.

The GLP Open Show is being held in partnership with Bath Canine Society Championship Show. The Bath GLP classes will be held before the Club Show so please enter and support both shows.

Mrs Carole Coode is judging the breed at the Club Show and Mr Chris Bexon is judging the breed at Bath Show.

Bath is a benched show but the GLP show is not. For those exhibitors only entering the GLP show, no bench will be provided.

The car parking charge is £5 if pre-paid and £10 on the day. If you are entering both shows, please pay for your car parking with your Bath entry. If you are entering the GLP show you need to pay the pre-paid fee of £5 with your GLP show entry.

The schedules for both the GLP Open Show and Bath Canine Society Championship Show will be available and entries can easily be made through Higham Press.

Have you ever watched Crufts and wished you could take part? Here is your chance!

Training days across the country will be hosted at Kennel Club licensed all-breed
championship shows during 2022. This is the perfect opportunity for someone new to the
world of pedigree dogs to take part and understand what it takes to become involved in dog
showing. The days are open to pedigree dog owners with an interest in taking part in dog
showing.

 

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Each session will cost £10. Please note some societies may charge an additional fee for car parking.

 

WHAT IS INCLUDED?
The cost includes a beginners’ dog showing pack and training which will cover the following topics:

  • Getting ready for taking part
  • Basic skills required for participating
  • What to expect when participating
  • What to do once you have participated
